… Ceremony (sponsored by the City of Benicia in partnership with Benicia Main Street Merchant Open House)
The annual tree lighting ceremony held the first Friday of December in conjunction with Benicia Main Streets Merchant Open House is one of the most magical nights of the year. The entire community and visitors come out to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season. The Tree Lighting takes place at the end of First Street where the city meets the water. The Parks & Community Services coordinate a fun-filled night of a rocking performance of your favorite holidays songs performed by “The Mistletones.” Santa and his elves always schedule an appearance and spend time dancing and visiting with all the children. Santa, Mayor Patterson, City Council and city dignitaries help lead the countdown to light our holiday tree. Benicia Main Streets Merchant Open House celebration continues the night filled with carolers, wagon rides, wine tasting, holiday shopping and more. It is a great community event and evening, which helps to bring the city together while bringing them out to enjoy the season.
