Lafayette Art & Wine Festival

You’ll want to be in Lafayette on the weekend of September 26-27 for the 25th Anniversary of the Lafayette Art & Wine Festival! With 300+ booths that showcase fine artists and regional handmade arts and crafts, three kid zones, great wine, beer, and food, plus two days of continuous live entertainment across four stages (featuring more than 20 of the Bay Area’s best cover bands), there is something for everyone.

“Our goal is always to make what we hope is a great experience even better the next year, and your votes encourage us to work even harder to achieve that!” said the Lafayette Chamber’s Executive Director Jay Lifson. “We’re already hard at work on this year’s festival.” Much of the festival’s offerings are free, including access to all music stages and free admission and parking. Located in Downtown Lafayette, just steps away from BART, two blocks from Hwy. 24, and so close to bike trails that we host a bike valet! “The festival is a fundraiser that raises tens of thousands of dollars for our local schools and nonprofits,” Jay said. “It is staffed mostly by volunteers and supports the year-round programs of the Lafayette Chamber.” Please join us!

Mark your calendars for September 26 and 27 starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 7 p.m. on Saturday and 6 p.m. on Sunday in Downtown Lafayette.

The Benicia Parks & Community Services Department are the people behind the Benicia Tree Lighting, and they are also doing more wonderful things all around the city of Benicia. They take care of the parks, put on great events throughout the year, oversee the community & aquatic centers, put on great programs for youth in the city, and more! “The Annual City of Benicia Tree Lighting continues to be a success due to the incredible teamwork and partnerships of all city departments and Benicia Main Street,” said Ann Dunleavy, Superintendent of Parks & Community Services. “The Tree Lighting and Holiday Merchant Open House are some of the most magical nights here in Benicia … it’s so much fun to see our community come together to celebrate the holiday season!” We’ve just had the tree lighting for 2019, so we have got some time to go before getting to this year’s event but set a reminder now just in case.

Blue Rock Springs Golf Course

Blue Rock Springs Golf Club has been a part of Vallejo’s history for over 75 years, entertaining millions with its 36-hole layout and panoramic views of the Bay Area and the city’s beautiful open space. The club opened in 1941, and its courses have undergone occasional redesigns or additions over the years. It’s currently composed of 225 acres and two 18-hole courses that are referred to as the “East Course” and the “West Course,” based upon which side of Columbus Parkway that they are on (the East Course was added in 1993).

The past year brought several improvements to the clubhouse: upgrades to the event space, renovations to the bunkers on the course, and Café Rock were also remodeled! All those improvements to the property have brought great feedback from guests and even happier golfers. Set up a tee time today and learn why the “rock” is still a favorite of our readers and is once again one of this year’s Local’s Choice Awards winner.
