Formed in 1974, and the members have tirelessly worked since then to make a difference in their community. Their Annual Crab Freed is a large part of not only their fundraising efforts, but their community outreach as well.  The event was originally run by the Host Lion’s Club but was turned over to the Executive Lion’s 4 years ago. All of the money that is raised at this fun annual event is donated back to the community. Half of the money raised is currently being given to the Dan Donahue Scholarship Fund. Dan Donahue was a Life Member of the Executive Lion’s Club and a community leader in Vallejo until his untimely passing. The event’s proceeds also benefit other endeavors the club supports in the community, such as providing eye exams and glasses to local children, the Mare Island Preserve, PAL, GVRD, the Continentals of Omega Boys & Girls Club, Rebuilding Together Solano, Habit for Humanity, Vallejo Sister City Association, the We Care About Vallejo organization, Salvation Army, the McCune Library, the Vallejo Community Arts Foundation, Vallejo Relay for Life, the WII ship Mighty Midget on Mare Island, just to name a few.
