So the saying is true – it doesn’t happen often but it does happen. Tonight is the second full moon in one month and star gazers such as me will get a chance to see it. Blue moons exist due to our calendar months being imperfectly synched to the lunar months. It takes 29.5 days for the moon to orbit Earth, during which sky watchers observe all of its phases. All calendar months, aside from February, have 30 or 31 days, resulting in the occasional two full moons within a single month. The blue moon is rare but it is scheduled to take place about once every three years with the next such moon scheduled to take place July of 2015.

Today is the start of a long weekend that is jam packed with activities, be sure to drive safe and drink responsibly!

SF Giants note: Can it be? The biggest lead in the NL West so far this year, the Giants are doing what they need to win right now. 4.5 out, WOW!

BIG, BIG stretches, feed Ben, and then I’m gone . . .
