Solano – 7 Flags Car Wash

If you’ve ever lived in Solano County, chances are you’ve made a trip, or two dozen, to Jack Anthony’s 7 Flags Car Wash. With numerous locations they all have one thing in common – great customer service. “It’s our people that we hire and train to make sure that their first order of business is taking care of their customers,” says Jack Anthony, owner of 7 Flags Car Wash. And that’s really all there is to it.

Anthony has also made sure that 7 Flags operates not only as a car wash, but also as part of the community. “We’ve done a lot for our community with our Helping Hands program to help organizations raise money,” he says. “We try to be good stewards of the environment also – we’re the only green-certified service in the county.”

Living here in Solano County has helped Anthony develop 7 Flags into what it has become now. “The people, the weather, it’s just a great area,” he says. “We’ve been here for 50 years. This is our home. This is what we love.”

CCC – Diablo Foods

“Our first and last priority is making sure the customer’s happy,” says Daniel Collier, Store Manager of Diablo Foods in Lafayette. “My grandfather, Ed Stokes, started the business 43 years ago. One of the cornerstones of the business has been customer service; it all starts there.”

Collier grew up in the area. Now, working as part of the family business, he feels proud to be part of the community. “We have a community that supports us as a business and what we stand for. We obviously would not be here without them and we recognize that,” says Collier. “We have a real good relationship with the people that shop with us, and we live here as a family—I grew up here—it makes for a real good fit.”

This level of customer service is what has made Diablo Foods the go-to location it is today. “There are a lot of beautiful markets out there, but there are only so many products you can differentiate yourself with,” Collier explains. “It’s that experience you get when you walk in; we just have an overall good feel and energy of the store due to the people we have here.”

Editorial Note: Congratulations to Diablo Foods on winning two Local’s Choice Awards!

Solano – U.S. Bank

When it comes to handling your money, it’s best to choose the best. U.S. Bank has received the honor of Best Business Services, for obvious reasons. “I would say it’s based on our customer service and attitude that we treat every customer as our favorite customer. That’s kind of our motto,” says Freda Dill, Branch Manager, AVP for U.S. Bank in Vallejo. “We’re personable with our customers.”

Dill explains that as an organization, U.S. Bank caters its products and services toward what the customers want and need. And that mentality in Vallejo works tenfold. “It’s just the spirit of Vallejoans and Solano County,” says Dill. “We tend to be very friendly and want to help each other and do things as a team.”

CCC – The Jungle

The Jungle is a wonderful indoor family entertainment center for children under the age of 12 and their parents. They have a jungle-themed playground that provides over 20,000 sq. ft. of fun for the kids. They have a massive play structure which allows children to climb, jump, slide and explore for hours. They, of course, can host birthday parties and other special events and offer homemade gourmet pizza as well as other items to complete the day for parents. Solano – Officer Jim Capoot

Officer Jim Capoot, a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, began his law enforcement career with the California Highway Patrol in 1990, following his father’s footsteps into a career of law enforcement. Prior to that Jim had served a four-year tour with the U.S. Marine Corp. In 1992 he left the CHP to become a Police Officer for the City of Vallejo – a city where he was stationed with the Marines and wife, Jennifer. Over the course of his career, Capoot has served as a motorcycle officer, motorcycle instructor, driving instructor, force options instructor and SWAT officer. He received the Officer of the Year award in 2000. He has also received two Vallejo Police Department Medals of Courage, 2 Life-Saving Medals for saving two lives by administering CPR and various other department medals and commendations.

Jim also gave back vigorously to the community in which he served. He worked to coach the Vallejo High School Girls basketball team were he had helped to lead them to victory in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II Girls Basketball Championship in 2010. He had also helped to coach his three daughters (Jillian, Jamie and Justine) at Will C. Wood in Vacaville and prior to that as an assistant coach.

Sadly, officer Capoot’s last watch fell on November 17, 2011 when he was killed in the line of duty as he pursed a bank robbery suspect. He will be missed by the community, his friends and, most of all, his family.
