The annual tree lighting ceremony held the first Friday of December in conjunction with Benicia Main Streets Merchant Open House is one of the most magical nights of the year. The entire community and visitors come out to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season. The Tree Lighting takes place at the end of First Street where the city meets the water. The Parks & Community Services coordinate a fun-filled night of a rocking performance of your favorite holidays songs performed by “The Mistletones.” Santa and his elves always schedule an appearance and spend time dancing and visiting with all the children. Santa, Mayor Patterson, City Council and city dignitaries help lead the countdown to light our holiday tree. Benicia Main Streets Merchant Open House celebration continues the night filled with carolers, wagon rides, wine tasting, holiday shopping and more. It is a great community event and evening, which helps to bring the city together while bringing them out to enjoy the season.

Formerly known as the Danville Fine Arts Faire, this year’s Danville Summerfest has lots of new surprises in store.
Summerfest offers fun for kids of all ages: Pony rides, arcades, jump houses, and arts & crafts that will be located along School Street and the Balford Building parking lot, and the Museum of the San Ramon Valley will provide train rides in the Faz Restaurant parking lot.

The Danville Area Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1948 to serve the business communities of Alamo, Blackhawk, Danville, Diablo and, originally, San Ramon. Today, San Ramon has its own Chamber but the cooperative spirit is still evident.
Their Mission statement shows why they are number one in customer service: “Our mission is to enhance the growth and development of business and the quality of life in our community, by helping to keep our membership informed, connected and prosperous.”
The Chamber is comprised of 4 professional staff, a Board of Directors comprised of 15 business representatives and approximately 700 business, nonprofit and service organizations. They are here to serve their members through education, promotion and advocacy. The Danville Chamber has a myriad of business events including monthly mixers, seminars, business-by-referral leads groups and special annual networking events.
This organization prides itself on being fun, energetic and welcoming to all. Each year, for the benefit and enjoyment of the entire community, the Chamber sponsors and organizes two annual Arts and Crafts Fairs, and the annual Holiday Tree Lighting.
