Is it still winter?. . .

Yesterday as I drove through the Napa Valley I was struck with the thought that it will officially be Spring in another month and yet somehow I don’t feel that I have seen winter. Now, I am sure that we Californians are feeling a little spring fever with all this warm weather we have been having but in reality while the rest of the country has been having storms, blizzards and such we have been enjoying spring-like weather. I shouldn’t say anything since I might jinx it, but I don’t even know if we know how lucky we are. I do, not on a daily basis, but I do appreciate what California has to offer.

Ben and I had another full day with more stops to deliver awards to Locals Choice Winners in the Napa Valley, then a “FABULOUS” Yountville Mixer at Consentino Winery.  The food from Mustards, Reddwood and Napa Style was great but the company and wine were the best! We had so much fun and the hosts outdid themselves.

Today, Ben and I have a lot of clean-up work to do on the computer and for our Lions Crab Feed so we need to get it together and get out early if we are going to get everything done.

Another early day, stretches and meditation; feed and walk Ben and away we go. . .

Oh what a night. . .

Ben recently attended a Yountville "Taste of Yountville" MeetingI was ready for a VERY busy day yesterday, but I really had not prepared for such a LONG day. I made it, and more than that I had a GREAT day. Meetings, appointments, even things I didn’t have planned seemed to fall into place. Ben and I started off in Vallejo and Benicia, but continued up to Yountville to start passing out the Locals Choice Awards to the recipients and what fun we had. We are getting such a great response to this issue; it has definitely renewed my passion for our path.

The day was great but nothing prepared me for such a great night. The Wednesday Night Ramble at the Empress Theatre was off the charts! Over 30 musicians showed up to support the Empress in its fundraising campaign for new sound equipment. Awareness, more than anything else was important, and we packed the house! We have so much to be thankful for with this jewel in Vallejo’s downtown. Can’t wait for the next Ramble; it’s only two weeks away!

Ready to start another day, early AM stretches and meditation; feed and walk Ben and away we go. . .

The beat goes on. . .

Yesterday Ben and I had a “puzzle” day. We kept putting the pieces together until the picture was complete, we accomplished a lot, but felt like nothing got done. Ever have one of those days? Today I feel like I have a weight on my chest, I need to get so many things done by the weekend. Oh well, I can only do what I can do.

Tonight the Empress Theatre in Downtown Vallejo will once again host their “Ramble” and this one is a MUST. The North Bay All Stars will host the gathering of musical friends in the latest installment of The Wednesday Night Ramble at the historic Empress Theatre in downtown Vallejo with Don Bassey on bass, T. Moran on drums, Matt Silva on guitar and Mike Emerson on keyboard. Joining the house band will be vocalist Ashling Biscuit Cole. Ashling will be celebrating her birthday at the concert and will be bringing her fellow musician friends to the stage to celebrate with her. This is HUGE, come on out and see what everyone is talking about.

I was on Holiday. . .

Sorry, I totally forgot to tell you that I was taking a mini holiday and wouldn’t be here until Tuesday morning. Did I get everything done I had intended this weekend? No. Did I have a great weekend? Yes. So there you go, sometimes you have to do what you do not have scheduled and guess what, it’s the right thing to do.

Today Ben and I have many things to mark off the “to do” list. Be on the lookout for us – we will be where you least expect us. (By the way, Happy Birthday Larry!)

The moon was even more beautiful last night. . .

OK, so I always feel like I see the most beautiful moon every night. Last night I felt the exact same way. The moon was yellow but a crescent and just beautiful!  Let’s keep a close eye on it tonight.

Yesterday was a VERY busy day, Benicia first thing, Vallejo for lunch and then a quick trip to Davis and then back to Vallejo for my Valentine’s date. OK, I must admit I have no pictures since I left my phone/camera at home on accident but I had a date with two handsome males. Does it matter that they were 6 and 4 years old? My nephews and Ramon and Rory had requested that I spend Valentine’s with them and even though I was late since I was having champagne with friends I had the best time watching them play with balloons that I brought. I am always amazed with how simple things make children happy. Tomorrow night I was requested to come back and make dinner.  Chicken sounds good. Did I mention I love my niece and nephews, like Ben, they have me wrapped around their little fingers.

Have a great day and keep an eye out for Ben and I since we will be in three counties today.

Did you see that moon last night. . .

Ben helped the hosts welcome their guests at the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Mixer

One would think that a full moon would be the appropriately romantic vision, but I have to say that the crescent moon last night was just perfect. It was like the perfect “yin yang” marriage of light and darkness. It set the tone for today’s romantic spirit.

Early morning meeting, coffee date, long walk with Ben, lunch date, afternoon meetings and then one of the most romantic evenings I could imagine. I’ll let you in on the evenings fun tomorrow!

Last night Ben and I stopped in at the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Mixer and then went to “Soulshine” at the Empress Theatre in downtown Vallejo. The mixer was very productive and the show had unbelievable talent, great prelude to Valentine’s Day.

Smarter Government. . .

Well, our President tells us that we need “Smarter Government” and I couldn’t agree more. I have to say though that I do not think we are talking about the same thing. We do not want to even go where I am thinking when I say “Smarter Government”. That’s another conversation.

Luckily for you this blog is about Ben and I and “Local Happenings Magazine”. If you want to talk politics – call me and we can set an appointment for a long cocktail hour one day.

Today Ben and I are going to have a slow day and we might even take a vacation day on Thursday. If you don’t hear from me, I’ll be back on Friday.

I kept rolling. . .

The Golden Gate Bridge as seen from Treasure island

So I never stopped this weekend, Sunday I headed back out to Treasure Island for an event and then back up to Mondavi Winery for another event and Monday kept it up. Benicia for lunch with friends, Angele in Napa for late afternoon cocktails and Mare Island get together for dinner. Ben and I are exhausted but feeling very accomplished. We had a very prosperous day and I feel like some of my New Year resolutions and goals were put on the right road. I will keep rolling with the tide.
