April already . . .

I can’t believe that Sunday will be April 1. That should be my April fool’s joke – it’s not really April yet! April means it is definitely spring time with summer approaching with lots of festivals, fairs, and golf tournaments and such. The one reason I love April so much is because baseball, BBQs, flowers and gardening come into my world on a daily basis – a Garden Party. Ahhh, April, one of my favorite times of the year.

Before I greet April with too much vigor I still have to get through the next couple of days of March. I have running around and events to attend. Last nights’ fundraiser for Leadership Vallejo at the Shark Tank at Discovery Kingdom was deemed a success and we all had a great time. Tonight Piccolo will be greeting friends and customers for a Poetic License Trunk Show which should a hoot. Ben and I will be there so you might get your picture taken if you show up! Tomorrow, Yvonne and Jacqueline from Miguelena will be hosting an Anniversary Party at their store in conjunction with Benicia Main Streets’ “Benicia in Bloom.” Are you tired yet? I better be sure to take my vitamins this morning!

Stretches, feed Ben, latte, and go. . .

OK, so schedules change . . .

A valued reader catches up with his "Local Happenings"!

Yesterday I had a schedule and it all went to h . . l in a
hand basket! Not one thing went as I had scheduled and guess what, it all works out. The older I get the more I am able to not worry about the little things and know that whatever is going to happen, will happen.

Today I start off finishing a project that should have been
done on TUES DAY! But it’s all good. Right? Right. Then right on to finishing up my mock up for the magazine that should have been done last Friday. Really? Oh my god, I better get going! Vallejo, Danville, Yountville and then back to Vallejo for Leadership Vallejo’s Fundraiser at Discovery Kingdom’s Shark Tank. There is supposed to be quite a crowd at this event and I am looking forward to it. But first . . . stretches, feed Ben, latte, and go. . .

Happiness in a moment . . .

Do you ever wake up and for no particular reason you are
just happy in the moment. I feel like this often but I hardly ever take the
time to actually embrace it and relax in the memory it will make. Simple things
and simple pleasures create a memory that days, months and even years later I will
remember as a time I was happy. Today is such a day.

Ben gets ready for his treatment from Cheri at Bombshell Hair and Ink

Yesterday Ben and I visited a lot of friends and clients,
Sailor Jack’s, Bombshell Hair and Ink, St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School and friends from Vallejo Executive Lions just to mention a few. We had a lot of fun and were able to get things accomplished that needed my attention. Today is no different – Ben and I will start the day in Vallejo but travel to Danville and who knows where the road will lead.

Today the stretches feel great, Ben is fed, vanilla latte is
made, and life is good. . .

Ben waits patiently outside Sailor Jacks since there was no outdoor seating!

Trying to catch up . . .

Does anyone ever really catch up? Isn’t it too late when you
finally catch up, because now aren’t you running behind with the things you put
off so you could catch up with what you were running late to begin with? This
is what I think of when I try to reason with rushing through things that need
to get done now. I am finally thinking I have some semblance of order – I really
don’t, but it’s a nice thought to go to sleep with.

Today I have appointments, meetings, and hopefully some
approvals of jobs that I am done with. Whew – yesterday worked. I did get a lot
done; unfortunately Ben didn’t get to see anyone yesterday! He is not a happy
boy, but he is still staying by my side, this is his most precious look as he
stays faithfully by his mom. I promised him that he would get a walk and visit
with some of his friends today so watch out you never know where he will show
up!

Stretches done, Ben is fed, have to by a latte on the run and get to work . . .

Whew . . .

Volunteering at The Taste of Yountville

This was a very busy weekend. I feel like I never stopped for a breath.  Friday night, after a long week, all I wanted was a cocktail and a quiet evening. Saturday was a go, go, go day starting off with the Taste of Yountville volunteering. It rained again this year, but the crowds still came so I hope that the event was a success. When I left there were people running around in high heels and sandals in the rain so nothing stops an event in Yountville! I was so tired when I left, it felt good to go home and get in a HOT shower. Then off to Walnut Creek to meet up with friends for dinner – no rest! I was dreaming of sleeping in on Sunday – NOT! A long walk, a baby shower, but finally a quiet evening at home on the couch, my favorite kind of night.

I am up and running for the week, lots to finish up and get
off my desk. I can’t wait for the first of the month since all of my projects
will be long gone and I will be able to rest and gear up for all the activities
that April will bring.

But first, do my stretches, feed Ben, make my latte and get to work . . .

Ben visiting Sandy at TEAM service

And I love him . . .

Today is a very special day, my sweet Rhett’s birthday. Rhett was my constant companion before Ben and couldn’t have been a better dog and best friend. “Always Remembered, Always Loved!” I still miss him and always will.

Back to work: Photo shoot right off the bat at TEAM
Superstores, head to Benicia next and then Yountville. Rest. No can do, the family will be heading off to San Francisco to attend my niece, Danielle’s school play. This will be her swan song since she is a senior this year and heading to college next year. She has been in all of the plays of her grammar
and high school, on top of carrying a 4.0 gpa and volunteering many hours to
her community, the whole family will beam with pride!

I am going to make sure that I do not leave my computer and
phone from the moment I sit down at some point today until I call it a day and just
maybe I will be able to make some progress. But, I have come to the conclusion
that I need to be OK with the fact I might not catch up today or even tomorrow.
It all works out, it always does.

But first, on the floor to do my stretches, feed Ben, make my latte and I’m gone . . .

Catching some rays . . .

Is the sun going to poke its head out? I wish I could on the couch sunning like Ben and his friend Shogun. I have to say, after a day of running what seems like everywhere, (Benicia, Lafayette and Yountville) I feel like I am catching up a little. Just a little. If I could just have one week back.

So yesterday we visited Lafayette, their Taste of Lafayette is coming up and the town is getting ready for the fun. Then I headed to Yountville which I had been neglecting – always a good time in Yountville. They are gearing up for their Taste of Yountville this weekend and it looks like Mr. Rain will stay away unlike last year. Last year I volunteered and I was soooooo cold and wet it was awful, but I have to tell you, they still had crowds! This year I am hoping that it the sun will poke its head out, but if it does rain – the event will go on.

Today I will be heading to Benicia, Danville and then back
to Vallejo for their Chamber of Commerce mixer. But first, stretches, feed Ben,
make my latte and here we go . . .

Lots to do . . .

I just can’t catch up! Do you ever feel like you take 10
steps forward just to lose 5? It’s very frustrating that I can’t seem to get
some semblance of finishing a project. It would help if just one day I could
sit and catch up . . .

Enough of that, onward and upward! Today I have tons of
computer work to do, then to Lafayette, and then to Yountville. No slowing down
here! Ben is exhausted. He is looking at me with those fabulous eyes of his and
saying can I just stay here on my pillow?

Yesterday was a full day finishing with a Napa Chamber of Commerce Trade Expo and then Piccolo in Benicia having one of her innovative fashion shows at the Rellik Tavern. The Rellik has been very busy lately. A lot of people were there and from what I understand “A successful show!” Congrats to Laurie Key, owner of Piccolo and Cherie Graf, owner of Bombshell Hair and Ink, who did
the hair and make-up.

No time for stretches, feed Ben, grab my latte and off we go . . .
