It’s springtime! Well, almost – the Vernal Equinox arrives
today at 10:15 p.m. PDT (early on March 20 for some folks), which will inspire
a fresh start for me. This is such a lovely time of year, usually spring would
bring an end to rain and we would soon see the spring flowers. This year it
seems summer turned into fall and then spring poked its head out and never wanted
to go back in to rest. I took a walk yesterday in shorts (OK, OK, a little soon
for them!) but even though it was brisk it felt so refreshing and I definitely
felt a rebirth in the air. This is definitely my year – something is about to
happen and life is good.
I just wanted to repeat what I said yesterday since I got so
caught up in so many things that I was not able to keep that smile on my face.
Sometimes you have to fight these things, but other times you have to give in
to stress, worry and sorrow. Smile back on my face – spring is here and I have
already stretched, fed Ben and ready to go.

Jack Anthony received his Local Happenings Magazine Award for Best Customer Service in Solano County!
I have much to do today since I feel I was most unproductive
yesterday, days like that happen so watch out everyone here Ben and I come . .

Josh, Delando and Tom try to keep up with the crowd!
Maybe all this talk is because I am still a little drunk from the
weekend. (N0.) It was a weekend to drink and be happy, all of the honorary Irish folk come out and act silly in the name of their ancestry and it’s OK. Another year down, hope you all had a good one. I spent mine in Benicia at The Rellik Tavern’s St. Patrick’s Day Block party. I drank Harp, an Irish Beer, and saw old and new friends. Everyone had a great time so thanks Delando and Tom for putting on a great event!
Enough talking, take Ben out, do stretches, feed Ben and here I go to greet the day . . .

Friday is here again – whew! What a week. I am ready to stop
and breathe and smell the wine. Yesterday was a long day added to Wednesday, so today feels like it should be Saturday already. I am really looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow.
Enough of dreaming of tomorrow today must be conquered. Danville first off. (Here is Ben posing with the mannequin at Consignit Couture in Downtown Danville.)We are working on an article on Sustainability measures in Danville and how the retail stores are jumping in and getting involved. Ben and I have lots to do and many people to talk to.
Yesterday Ben and I traveled to Danville, Lafayette and ended in Benicia at the Benicia Chamber of Commerce Mixer. We had fun and Ben enjoyed meeting new friends, but today looks like it’s going to be even more fun since the rain is back in force! Enough thinking about it, get up, take Ben out, do stretches, feed Ben and here I go . . .

My favorite men at the Benicia Chamber smile for the camera!
Is it really March 15th? I feel like it was just
Christmas and here we are coming to an end of the first quarter of the year.
Time is flying by and I can’t seem to catch up. Right when I was thinking we
were never going to get any rain, and I was OK with that – wham! We get a week
of rain and lots of it. Why couldn’t this have come a month ago when I could
have worked from home, now I am at my deadlines and I need to be running around
in the rain? It wouldn’t bother me so much if Californians could only drive in
the rain. It is ridiculous out there; you literally take your life in your
hands when you get on the roads out there, oh well.
Yesterday was very busy and went late since I was at the
Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Mixer last night and by the time I arrived at home it was almost 9:00 pm! (Ben had a great time as he greeted fellow chamber members at the door.) Today does not appear to be any better since I am leaving to go to Danville first thing and then heading back to Lafayette and then ending in Benicia where I will attending their Chamber of Commerce Mixer. The “Life of Riley” continues.
Get up, take Ben out, do stretches, feed Ben and here I go . . .

Smile for the camera

More smiles at the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Mixer!
I’m just kidding! We need the rain, so keep on coming Mr.
Rain Man. It does make for a nice way to wake up though, listening to the rain
drops and smiling. It’s like having a water feature in the house!
So, of course I now have to run around in the rain today
with a lot of stops on my “to do” list. Stretches, feed the dog, latte, (oops
out of beans need to go out and get coffee beans!) do some Vallejo Executive
Lions work, have a lunch meeting and go see advertisers. I actually like days like
this where I feel discombobulated, but in reality getting a lot accomplished.
The fun does not stop there though. Tonight the Lafayette
Chamber is hosting their monthly networking mixer at no other than the Round Up
Saloon. The Chamber office even called to remind me since they thought I would
fit right in with my cowboy hat, so I can not disappoint. Also, the Lafayette
Chamber is one of my favorite chambers so I like attending their functions.

Ben waits for his deposit slip at US Bank
Ben does not like these rainy days unfortunately since he
does not get to visit as many people, I feel bad that he is not getting his
exercise, but he does get a lot of treats . . .

Take me home!
This is such a horrible thing in the world. Animals that
aren’t loved, left to fend for themselves and dropped off at shelters just so they can be euthanized for no other reason other than the owners decided “they didn’t want a dog”, or “he was too much dog “. What is that!? So this morning I was awoken by a phone call with a dog rescue group wanting to find a foster home for a dog that is going to be euthanized. What a heartbreak. Luckily we were able to find a foster home,
still looking for a forever home! A 9 month old black German Shepherd, any takers?
Home show programs, advertisers, lots to do. Keeping my head
down and moving forward.
Business meeting at the Vallejo Executive Lions, way behind
schedule . . .

Don Reed gets up close and personal with a fan
That’s right Monday is here and I am still smiling from the weekend. This is how you should try to feel every Monday so you can get the
week jump started. I hope that everybody wakes up with a smile so that you can
get all that you want out of this week.
So, is the comedy show on Friday the reason? Who knows, who cares, just continue to laugh and don’t question. I have decided to make comedy a habit by
watching a funny movie in the movie when I am getting ready for work – I’ll let
you know.
Ben is very excited to get out today since he knows we have
a lot to get accomplished, be sure to keep an eye out for him. I have scheduled
him in some very fun and unusual places.
Maybe a picture with you? Today there is a lot to get done, and this week
will be VERY busy. Get on the bus and strap yourself in if you’re going to keep
up, we have much to do . . .

More fun at the comedy show!

Smile for the camera!
I love to laugh. Who doesn’t like to laugh? What could be
better than ending a long, hard, work week by going to a comedy show? I wake up
every day happy, a smile is always there, and I try to keep that smile throughout
the day. That is not always possible, but if it gets chased away it can come
back. Today I woke up with a smile, I am in a good mood and plan to be that way
all day, so tonight’s Comedy Show at the Fetterly Playhouse in Vallejo is just
a bonus. Matt Larson, a writer for Local Happenings Magazine, also produces
comedy shows and tonight he is hosting comedian, Don Reed. If you have never been to Matt’s
shows, put it on your schedule, they are fun. Tonight’s show is sold out but
check out their website, www.vallejocomedy.com,
for future shows. I am planning that this event will have me laughing all
weekend.

Marcus, owner of East Bay Gas Lines in Danville, takes time out for a snapshot
Before I start laughing tonight I have plenty to do though,
stretches done, Ben is fed, latte is made and I need to get a walk in since I have been lax about my daily walks this week. Then it is back to my computer to follow up on many contacts I made last night at the Danville Chamber of Commerce. What a fun time! Marcus, owner of East Bay Gas Lines, put on a great
event. He has his showroom full of fabulous surprises, outdoor BBQs, fireplaces, waterfalls, and the star of the night, a pizza oven! He had a chef from Piatti cooking up some great pizzas and Auburn James pouring their premier wine. Let’s hope he gets back on the schedule for another mixer next year!
I also need to get busy and finish up our Local Happenings
Magazine Awards disks for the winners. I am woefully behind, no excuse except
filling up my calendar beyond what I can do on any given day. Sound familiar?
Let me know how far behind you are, I would love to feel I am not alone! Who
knows, it could appear right here . . .

New Member, Ray Marquez, is greeted at the door.

The Piatti chef keeps the crowd happy!
